Job Descriptions
Our swim team relies heavily on parents to run the meets. It takes more than 100 volunteers for a swim meet to run effectively. Therefore, each family on our team will earn 50 points worth of volunteer activities during the regular 4 meet season. Some positions require certification or training, look for clinics and training sessions on our website.

BREAK DOWN (Home & Away)
Takes down all the tents, tarps, heating benches, ropes and signs & returns to storage.

CONSOLE OPERATOR (Home & Away)
Manages the meet scoring. They will be using the team PC throughout the meet. Each operator will get 30 minute breaks every 60 minutes. WHALe / Preseason training REQUIRED.

DECK MONITOR (Home Only)
Ensures sure only meet workers are on the deck closest to the clubhouse.

EXTRAS (Home & Away)
Will arrive in time to attend the timers meeting and be on hand the entire meet to help where needed. Will be awarded full 20 points if placed in a full-meet job. MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THE FULL MEET IF NEEDED.

HOME MEET PRE-SETUP (Home Only)
~1 hour of setup the evening prior to a home meet. Set up all tents, ready benches, tables, timing chairs, umbrellas, etc.

MERCHANDISE TABLE (Home Only)
Sit at the merchandise table and sell things to people who want them.

PARKING / SECURITY (Home Only)
Sets up signs & aids parents in parking. Ensures reserved parking spaces are not taken. Patrols pool area and surrounding grounds for security purposes. Bringing a bike may help.

READY BENCH (Home & Away)
Receive the swimmers from the Team Parents. Organize swimmers into their lanes and onto their ready bench. WORKS ENTIRE MEET.

RIBBONS (Home & Away)
Organize and distribute ribbons.

RUNNER (Home & Away)
The runner collects all of the timing sheets from the timers and delivers them to the referee or computer table.

Set up all tents, ready benches, tables, timing chairs, umbrellas, etc.

STROKE JUDGE – TOUCH/TURN & STROKE (Home & Away)
All Judges and Starters must attend a training course and hold current WHALe certification. WILL WORK ENTIRE MEET (with 30 minute breaks every 90 minutes).

TENT PARENT (Home & Away)
Responsible for monitoring swimmers in your tent. Make sure they stay in the tent, calling them up for the races they are swimming, helping swimmers get to heating area and back to tent. Multiple tent parents for each age group for each meet. Only 6 and under team parents may leave after ALL 6 and under swimmers have been released after backstroke, all other age groups WORK THE ENTIRE MEET.
